BIOGRAPHY
Ching-Cherng Sun received his BS in electrophysics from National Chiao Tung University in 1988 and his Ph.D. in Optical Sciences, from National Central University, in Jan. 1993. Then he served as a half-year postdoctor in Optical Sciences Center of National Central University. He served in Chinese Air Force beginning in July 1993. In 1996, he joined the faculty of National Central University, Taiwan, and served as an associate professor at the Institute of Optical Sciences. He has become a full professor since 2002. He served as the chairman of the SPIE Taiwan Chapter in 2002 and 2003. Dr. Sun has been included in Who's Who in the World, American Biographical Institute, and The International Biographical Centre since 2000 and Who's Who in Science and Engineering since 2001 for recognizing his contribution to optical science and engineering. He obtained the teaching award of the Science College in 2001. He is currently a Fellow of The International Society of Optical Engineering (SPIE), and a member of the Optical Engineering Society of Republic of China and OSA. His research interests are volume holographic optical elements, LED lighting optics, photorefractive devices, holography, holographic storage, optical information processing, optical metrology, micro-optics, fiber optics and optical engineering.
INTRODUCTION OF RESEARCH
Based on optical sciences, the research topics include the four-level optics in LED solid-state lighting (light extraction in chip level, the first optics in package level, the second optics in module level and the third optics in vision optics including glare), lighting optical design, and optical engineering for the applications to data storage, communication and display.
